Capacity Building and Networking Workshop for Central African Ethics Committees, Kinshasa, 6-8 December 2022

The AfriEthique project (A European-African network for strengthening the ethics capacity for clinical research review in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Republic of Central Africa, Chad, and the Republic of Congo), funded by the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) to strengthen the ethics review capacity for clinical research in DRC, CAR, Chad, and ROC, organised in collaboration with The Central Africa Clinical Research Network (CANTAM) from 6 to 8 December 2022 in Kinshasa, a capacity building and networking workshop for Central African Ethics Committees.

The objective of this workshop was to strengthen the capacities of the ethics committees members, to continue the process of harmonization of the working procedures already started and to allow a networking between these committees and the other regulatory authorities of the sub-region, the European ethics committees as well as initiatives such as AVAREF.

These three days of work allowed for rich exchanges on the realities experienced by the different ECs in their respective countries and the contribution of solutions through successful approaches already experimented by some partners.

The different parties will maintain this excellent dynamic of collective work to further improve the capacities of their members as well as the performance of each of the network's committees.
